The orientation of the buildings on the site sets up a clear concept
of circulation that connects the two new buildings to the existing 6-story
building. A covered circulation path that links the three buildings is
critical to the organization and spatial clarity of the design concept
and how the buildings relate to each other in a strong but simple manner.
The existing building is situated in the northwest corner of the site,
which allows parking structure access to the south. The two new buildings
wrap the north and east edge of the site and create a focus on the interior
of the project where a generous south-facing landscaped plaza is designed.
The plaza will be rich with amenities, color and texture from the variety
of landscape, paving and seating surfaces that fill the space. A water
feature is planned for the plaza to offer relief and calming from the
urban sounds that exist at the outside edge of the site.
