Gary Whitelaw
Chief Executive Officer

Gary joined Bentall 1988 as the Investment Management group's President and Chief Executive Officer. 2002 saw him become President and Chief Executive Officer of Bentall. And, in 2008, he became Chief Executive Officer of Bentall Group.

Prior to joining Bentall, Gary was Vice President and COO of Nexacor, Bell Canada’s real estate division, which managed a 25 million square foot portfolio for numerous BCE companies. Preceding Nexacor, Gary was Executive Vice President of Gentra Inc., a Canadian public real estate corporation listed on the TSX, where he was responsible for the management of Gentra’s real estate group. In addition, he spent eight years running various entities within the Mollenhauer Group of Companies, a mid-sized construction and development company active in Canada and the US.

Gary holds a degree in architecture from McGill University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is currently a director of RealPac - Real Property Association of Canada and was previously a director of NAREIM (National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers).

Remco Daal
President and Chief Operating Officer
Canada

Remco has overall responsibility for Bentall's operations in Canada. He is responsible for day to day financial and operating performance and plays a significant role in strategy development for Canada. Based in Vancouver, Remco joined Bentall in 2000 as Vice President, Portfolio Management. Previously, he held senior positions with CIBC Development Corporation and a private Toronto-based development company. Remco holds a BBA (Honours) from Wilfred Laurier University and an MBA from European University in Antwerp, Belgium.

Diane MacDiarmid
Executive Vice President
Corporate Resources

Diane joined Bentall in 2004 and has organization-wide responsibility for human resources. She was previously with Mercer Consulting Group for 16 years, most recently as President of Mercer Delta Consulting Canada. In her consulting career, Diane worked with the senior leadership of companies across North America addressing issues of strategy, organization and leadership effectiveness. Before Mercer, she held positions with the Bank of Montreal and Gulf Canada. Diane holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from Queen’s University and an MBA from the Schulich School.

Lawrence Neilson
Chief Financial Officer

Lawrence's real estate career began in 1988 with Laing Property Corporation. He joined Bentall in 1991 and held progressively more senior roles in accounting, finance and administration. In 2002, Lawrence became Senior Vice President, Finance responsible for the Real Estate and Retail Services operating groups. In 2003, he was appointed CFO of Bentall, including all its operating units and subsidiaries.

Paul Zemla
Chief Investment Officer

Paul has been with Bentall since 1998. Prior to assuming his current role as CIO, with overall responsibility for acquisitions and dispositions, Paul was Senior Vice President, Acquisitions and Sales. He came to the company from Nexacor, Bell Canada's real estate arm, where he was Vice President, Transaction Group, responsible for all acquisitions, dispositions and leasing for the company. Before Nexacor, Paul was Director, Corporate Development for Bramalea Inc. and formed part of a small team with direct responsibility for the disposition of nearly $2 billion of real estate assets during the real estate downturn of 1992 to 1995.
